Zusammenfassung:PURPOSE:To facilitate the assembly of light-emitting and light-receiving elements, by molding the light-emitting and light-receiving elements in frames with synthetic resin so as to integrate them. CONSTITUTION:A light-emitting section 7 having a molded light-emitting element 1 and a light-receiving section 8 having a molded light-receiving element 2 are die bonded to the ends of leads 9a and 9b, respectively, and wires are bonded thereto. Then both the elements 1 and 2 are simultaneously molded, primarily, with light-transmitting synthetic resin 10. By this molding, a slit 10a serving as an entrance and exit for light is provided to be projected on the upper portion of the front face of each primarily molded package, while a reflective surface 10b is provided on the rear portion of the top face. Such molded packages are secondarily molded by applying a light-shielding synthetic resin 11 on the outer periphery thereof such that an aperture is provided i front of the slits 10a and that the light-emitting section 7 and the light-receiving section 8 are opposed to each other with a passage for passing objects interposed therebetween. After the molded packages are integrated in this manner, the leads 9a and 9b are cut off from the frames.
