Zusammenfassung: | PURPOSE:To enable the prevention of the excessive grinding of steel strip edges without a drop in productivity and roll service life by slanting a billy (???) roll to a contact roll in a direction where a steel strip and a grinding belt are passed through a space between both of said rolls. CONSTITUTION:When a billy (???) roll 3 has been slanted by theta to a contact roll 1, the grinding pressure of a steel strip 4 in a width direction becomes high at a central part and low at both edges. Also, the distribution of grinding pressure in a width direction changes the slant angle of said roll 3. It is necessary, therefore, to change said angle depending upon the mechanical properties of the steel strip 4 and the width thereof. Namely, when a hard steel strip and a steel strip of small width are machined, the slant angle of said roll 3 is enlarged. In this way, the excessive grinding of strip edges can be prevented and fracture at the time of cold rolling can be avoided, thereby obviating a drop in productivity for coil grinding and in the service life of the contact roll 1. |
