Zusammenfassung: | PURPOSE:To reduce the support amount of a catalyst while enhancing low temp. activity, by injecting a solution containing a catalytic component in the predetermined part of the upper end surface of a monolithic catalyst carrier except the outer peripheral part thereof and immersing said monolithic catalyst carrier in the solution so as to reach the predetermined height of said carrier. CONSTITUTION:Catalyst support layers are formed to the inner surfaces of a large number of fine pores of a columnar monolithic carrier substrate having saids pores extending to the axial direction thereof to mold a monolithic catalyst carrier. This monolithic catalyst carrier is received in a tank in such a state that the axial direction thereof is made perpendicular and a solution containing a catalytic component is injected in the predetermined part of the upper end surface of said carrier except the outer peripheral part thereof and carrier is immersed in the solution so as to reach the predetermined height of said carrier and catalyst component is supported by the catalyst support layer to prepare a monolithic catalyst. For example, the monolithic catalyst carrier 1 is received in a container 2 and the solution 4 containing the catalytic component is injected in said carrier 1 from above by using a nozzle 3 and, after the carrier is immersed so as to reach the height of 70% thereof, the impregnated one is up and dried to obtan the monolithic catalyst. |
