MANUFACTURE OF CATHODE-RAY TUBE

PURPOSE:To prevent implosion of a cathode-ray tube, while it is left standing after air exhaust or during handling in cathode-ray tube manufacturing process which includes heating and air exhaust process, by fastening an anti-implosion metal band tightly around the front part of a cathode-ray tube before the heating and air exhaust process. CONSTITUTION:A cathode-ray tube to be used in a television receiver or a video terminal display is made implosion-proof by fastening an anti-implosion metal band 8 tightly around its panel part 1. The metal band 8 is fastened over a heat-resistive heat insulating material wound around the panel 1 and then pieces 9 attached on the corners before making heating and air exhaust process in manufacture of the cathode ray tube. The heating and air exhaust process is carried out thereafter. Implosion due to rapid cooling after heating and air exhaust while left to stand or during handling can be prevented for higher safety of operation.
