EXAMPLE:7-( 1-Oxa-2,2-pentamethylene-5-oxo-6-spiro[4.2]hepten-4-yl )-5,6-oxohe ptanoic acid methyl ester. USE:A drug. An antitumor agent. It is a substance corresponding to epoxidized 12-dehydroprostaglandin A-mimic compound and has strong antitumor activity. PREPARATION:The compound of formula I wherein n is 0 can be produced by epoxidizing the double bond of 7-(2-alkylidene-5-oxo-3-cyclopentenyl)-5- heptenoic acid derivative of formula II with an oxidizing agent such as m- chloroperbenzoic acid at room temperature. The product can be converted to another compound of formula I wherein n is 1 by further epoxidization.
