HEAT TREATMENT DEVICE FOR WIRE

PURPOSE:To subject a wire to an efficient bright heat treatment with a smaller- sized installation by passing the wire into a hollow pipe provided in a communicating state in a heating furnace and cooling tank and forming a non-oxidative atmosphere in the hollow pipe in the heating furnace and a cooling atmosphere in said pipe in the cooling tank. CONSTITUTION:The heating furnace 2 and the cooling tank 3 are installed to the same row in a heat treatment furnace. The hollow pipe 5 in the communicating state is provided in both thereof and the wire 6 passing through the inside of the hollow pipe 5 is subjected to the bright heat treatment. An atmosphere-forming gas is fed from a gas supply pipe 7 into the pipe 5 so that the non-oxidative atmosphere is formed in the heating furnace 2 and the cooling atmosphere in the cooling tank 3, respectively. The cracked gas of ammonia is adequate as the above-mentioned atmosphere-forming gas. A small amt. of the gas is passed in the heating furnace 2 and a large amt. thereof is passed in the cooling tank 3; otherwise, a low-temp. non-oxidative gas is adequately passed into the cooling tank 3.
