WAVE FORECASTING METHOD OF SHIP

PURPOSE:To attain correct forecasting of waves in the predicted position at the optional time for a steamer by utilizing the atmospheric pressure distribution information received from shore, the state information of waves, a fixed time forecast and a wave distribution model held on a slip. CONSTITUTION:The status information of atmospheric pressure distribution and wave information are first procured from shore on a ship. The wave distribution model corresponding to the wave information procured from shore is then selected from the wave distribution model for a low atmospheric pressure found statistically which is held on the slip. Then, the position of the low atmospheric pressure at the optional time is estimated at the ship's position at the fixed time forecast time by comparing the wave distribution model corrected by the observation data on the slip of the atmospheric pressure, etc. at the ship's position at that time with the fixed time atmospheric pressure distribution forecast and wave forecast procured from shore. The waves at the predicted position at the optional time of the ship is then forecasted by applying the wave distribution model corrected to the position of the low atmospheric pressure at the optional time.
