Zusammenfassung:PURPOSE:To enable simultaneous handling of pillar materials by supporting pillar material horizontally then switching from outercircumferential supporting of guide member having enlarged inclination outercircumference at the pillar material side to the axial direction supporting and inserting a ring part into the pillar material thereby mounting the ring smoothly under horizontal condition. CONSTITUTION:Upon fitting of a seal mat 17 into the groove 40 of positioning table 25, catalyst 3 is positioned on a receiving member 37 and mounting table while simultaneously a mesh ring 16 is mounted on respective holding chips 88a-88c of press mechanism 30. Then an arm 42 is rotated to wind the mat 17 over the catalyst 3 by means of both stopper clicks 43 and to adhere the opposite ends. While the holding chips 88d, 88e of holding mechanism 30 will contact against the ring 16 to press inward thus to penetrate a rod 122 through the ring 16 and to approach to the guide mechanism 28 side thereby the arm 31 at the tip is inserted into an insertion hole 67 to move the guide member 27 to the catalyst 3 side thus to support the guide mechanism 28 on the arm 31 from axial direction. Then the supporter 63 is released to enlarge the ring 16 through the inclined outer face 56 by the motion of holding mechanism 30 oand to fit over the fitting section.
