Zusammenfassung:PURPOSE:To manufacture link chains having high strength, high toughness, and high corrosion resistance by the procedure in which an iron steel link chain is subjected to a cementation treatment, then inserted directly into a fuse solution containing specific proportions of Sn and Bi, and then subjected to hardening, cooling, and plating treatment concurrently. CONSTITUTION:After an iron steel link chain is subjected to a cementation or nitriding treatment, the link chain is inserted directly into a fused solution containing 30-65wt% Sn and 35-70wt% Bi and kept at 250 deg.C or less and then hardened and cooled. As a result, the hardening of the link chain so treated is sufficiently raised and also its corrosion resistance is greatly raised by its insertion into the fused solution. The preferred composition of the link chain material is an alloy of 0.1-0.5wt% C, 1wt% or less Si, 3wt% or less Mn, 0.1-1wt% Mo, and Fe.
