Actuating device for an automatic transmission system in a motor vehicle, which motor vehicle has a brake pedal, an accelerator pedal and a selector lever and the selector lever can be shifted into a parking position (P) and into a neutral position (N) and into at least one driving position, an appliance being provided which only permits the transmission system to be shifted from P or N into the driving position when the brake pedal is applied, characterized in that the appliance (54; 70; 184) is also connected to a speed sensor and a delay element and is only activated in the N-position of the selector lever (12; 126; 142) when the speed V is below a defined limit and the N-position is engaged for longer than a certain period.
