Zusammenfassung:	To produce open-ended moulds for continuous-casting machines by means of a mandrel and die, a piece (1;4) of tube as preliminary material is removed from a tube store (SR) and, within one work system, the end of the piece (1;4) of tube is rounded off, the mandrel (3;9;10) is introduced into the piece (1;4) of tube, the tube is calibrated on the mandrel (3;9;10), the mandrel (3;9;10) is removed from the piece (1;4) of tube and brought back into its starting or working position and the calibrated tube (1') is taken for further processing and/or checking and/or packing.
