CONSTITUTION:The fuel used in a steam heater 5' attached to a refining furnace 3 producing copper by the use of sulfide concentrate as main raw material has a structure capable of mono-fuel combustion of solid fuel or multi-fuel combustion of solid fuel and liquid fuel and, moreover, operation is carried out so that exhaust gas temp. of the steam heater 5' is 500-650 deg.C. In this way, the heating surface area necessary to obtain the same amount of steam is sharply reduced, so that cost of installation of the steam heater 5' can be remarkably reduced.
