GEAR CHANGE CONTROL DEVICE FOR AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION

PURPOSE:To enable gear change suited to a taste by forming and storing a new gear change pattern in accordance with the opening of a throttle valve and a vehicle speed based on a basic gear change pattern in a fixed gear change mode under a pattern forming assignment at the time of a fixed mode. CONSTITUTION:A program switch 3 is turned on and a vehicle speed and a throttle valve opening at a gear change point when gear change is carried out in a fixed mode are read into a control device 4. These are compared with ones in a basic gear change pattern to obtain a proportionality factor, and the preset gear change threshold vehicle speed of the basic gear change pattern is multiplied by the factor and a new gear change pattern is stored in a memory 9. To carry out automatic gear change by this gear change pattern, the pattern is selected by a memory selection switch 2 and a select switch 1 is set to an automatic speed change mode D. Thus, by using a manual valve type automatic transmission, a gear change pattern suited to the taste of a driver or the traveling condition of a vehicle can be set besides the gear change pattern proper to the automatic transmission.
