Zusammenfassung:PURPOSE:To attain highly accurate jump control by discriminating a track on the basis of a discrimination signal recorded on an inclined track to control the position. CONSTITUTION:Data on the inclined track of a magnetic tape are reproduced by a rotary head 7 to which a bimorph plate 6 for position adjustment is added, a tape speed and the phase of a reproduced signal are detected by a tape speed detecting circuit 35 and a reproduced phase detecting circuit 37 respectively on the basis of an output from an address generating circuit 33 and the feedback control of the bimorph plate 6 is executed to control tracking to a jump track. In this case, a reproduced output of a track discrimination signal outputted from an audio part on the leading end part of the inclined track is supplied to a track discriminating/correcting circuit 34, whether the output of the generator is generated from an objective track or the like, and a correction signal is generated and added to a feedback output. Consequently, highly accurate jump track control can be attained also at the time of high density recording.
