Zusammenfassung:PURPOSE:To obtain the titled compound useful as aqueous coating compound, etc., having improved discoloration and high purity, by using glycidol containing aldehyde, an impurity, reduced with sodium boron hydride, as a raw material and reacting the glycidol with (meth) acrylic acid. CONSTITUTION:Glycidol which is treated with NaBH4 preferably at 0-40 deg.C by adding 500-1,500ppm powdery NaBH4 to glycidol and filtering or passing glycidol through a layer packed with NaBH4 is reacted with (meth)acrylic acid in the presence of both an alkali catalyst such as triethylamine, 2- methylimidazole, etc., and a polymerization inhibitor such as hydroquinone monomethyl ether, etc., preferably at 50-95 deg.C for 3-8hr and, after the completion, the reaction is further carried out for 5-10hr while introducing a small amount of air to the reaction system to give the aimed compound. USE:A raw material monomer for photosensitive resin, anti-fogging coating compound, UV.EB curable coating compound, content lens, etc.
