Zusammenfassung:	NEW MATERIAL:A 2,3-dicyanopyrazine derivative shown by the formula I [A is thienyl, furyl, a group shown by the formula II (R1 is H or lower lakoxy; R2 is nitro, trifluoromethyl, carbamoyl, cyano, or lower alkoxy; both R1 and R2 are hologen); B is Cl, OH, lower alkylamino)]. EXAMPLE:2,3-Dicyano-5-hydroxy-6(3,4-dichlorophenyl)pyrazine. USE:A harbidice and a synthetic intermediate for 2,3-dicyano-5-alkylaminopyrazine- based herbicide. For example, usable effectively for the soil treatment of paddy field by water sprinkling, foliar treatment in the growing periof of weeds, the soil treatment of a plowed field, etc. PROCESS:For example, diaminomaleonitrile is reacted with an alpha-ketocarboxylic acid shown by the formula A-COCOOH to give a compound shwon by the formula I wherein B is OH.
