METAL SUPPORTED MATRIX OF CATALYST FOR PURIFYING EXHAUST GAS AND ITS PREPARATION

PURPOSE:To eliminate the delamination of the strip material of a laminated body at the time of the treatment of high temp. exhaust gas, by fusing and fixing specific superposed contact parts and the filled contact part of the outer peripheral surface of a laminated body and the inner peripheral surface of a cylindrical case by a Cu-Ni alloy. CONSTITUTION:Plate-shaped metal strip materials 2 and a corrugated board- shaped metal strip material 3 are laminated in such a state that a Cu plating layer 4' and a Ni plating layer 4'' forming mutually superposed contact parts are applied to both strip materials 2, 3 to form a laminated body 1. Subsequently, the laminated body 1 is mounted in a cylindrical case 6 having a Cu or Ni plating layer applied to at least the inner peripheral surface thereof and the whole is passed through a furnace to be heat-treated. By this method, the mutually superposed contact parts 7, the laminated body 1 and the cylindrical case 6 are collectively and simultaneously fused and fixed 5 by the Cu-Ni alloy 4 due to the melt-diffusion of the Cu plating layer 4' or the Cu plating layer 4'' or the Ni plating layer in the side of the cylindrical case 6.
