AUTOMATIC SIZING DEVICE FOR FIXED TOOTH THICKNESS IN GEAR CUTTING MACHINE

PURPOSE:To accurately cut a tooth thickness, by measuring the tooth thickness in the process and controlling a machine on the basis of the measuring result, in case of the gear cutting machine in which a tooth surface is cut or ground one by one by shaving. CONSTITUTION:A tooth surface play amount between a cutter 19 and a work 20 in cutting on the basis of their shape and leading particulars, when the work 20 obtains a desired tooth thickness, is calculated and stored in memory. A rotary position relation between the cutter and the work at the point of time when the cutting of one tooth surface finishes, is measured, calculated and stored in memory on the basis of outputs from pulse generators 22, 23. The cutting is transferred to a reverse tooth surface preventing the cutter and the work from stopping their rotation, and the rotary position relation between the cutter and the work is similarly measured and calculated. At the point of time, a difference between these relations and the initial relations becomes the previously calculated desired tooth surface play amount, the cutting is finished. Accordingly, the tooth thickness can be accurately cut.
