PICTURE INPUT DEVICE

PURPOSE:To read on original at low cost without using an image sensor by illuminating only a part (one point) of an original, reading original information by an extended light receiving element and scanning the position of a local illumination on the original. CONSTITUTION:The selfox lens 20 of an optical fibre is disposed correspondingly to the respective light emitting elements of the one dimensional array 10 of a light emission diode (LED) and a Fresnel lens 50 is disposed between the original 30 and the rod like light receiving element. The respective light emitting elements of the LED array 10 are sequentially lighted up one by one from the end thereof to locally illuminate the original 30, and the image of the illuminated part is formed on the light receiving element 40. The picture information of one line of the original 30 is read by writing corresponding to the number of the lighting LED element and a signal from the light receiving element 40 on a memory, the original 30 is fed a little by a feeder 60 and the next one line is read.
