Zusammenfassung:PURPOSE:To provide a mold enabling stable press-forming of a high-precision glass article in high efficiency, by using a reinforced noble metal or noble metal alloy or a heavy metal single crystal as a material for forming the forming face of a mold. CONSTITUTION:The titled mold has a high-precision forming face made of (A) noble metal (e.g. zirconia-doped reinforced platinum named as ZGS-Pt) or noble metal alloy (e.g. ZGS-Pt.Ph, ZGS-Pt.Rt.Rh.Au, etc.) having ultrafine crystal texture and excellent high temperature characteristics improved by the addition of a crystal growth inhibitor or (B) a heavy metal single crystal (e.g. platinum single crystal, nickel single crystal, molybdenum single crystal, etc.). A high-precision surface characteristics can be attained by grinding and polishing. The surface characteristics can be maintained after repeated use for a long period at a high temperature without deteriorating the surface characteristics caused by change in texture, chemical reaction, abrasion, etc. Accordingly, a high-precision glass article can be stably produced in high efficiency by press-forming.
