SPRUE RUNNER BREAKER FOR CASTING

PURPOSE:To break the sprue runners of a casting from a desired position without the generation of deformation, cracking and chipping of the casting by acting the static hydraulic pressure of lifting cylinders atop the sprue runners via pressing members. CONSTITUTION:The plural lifting cylinders 2 which are laterally spaced from each other and are vertically fixed onto a square base 1 are lowered and a pair of the pressing members 9l, 9r are preliminarily retreated. The casting M taken out of a casting mold is imposed on a lifting jig 4 on the cylinders 2 and is fixed onto the jig 4 by using plural lock bolts 17 screwed to the jig 4 so that the sprue runners 8 are overhung downward on the outside of the jig 4. The members 9l, 9r are then advanced to hold down the top surface of the runners 8. The cylinders are thereafter extended to act tensile breaking force to the gate parts 7 of the runners 8 by which the runners 8 are broken from the desired position of the gate parts 7.
