METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR MEASURING WATER QUANTITY CORRESPONDING TO SNOW

PURPOSE:To enlarge a measuring range, by a method wherein upper lower limits are set to the measuring range of a pressure sensor and the difference pressure with the value at a measuring start time is stored when a measured value reaches the upper limit to respect measurement. CONSTITUTION:Measuring pressure side piping 2a and atmospheric pressure side piping 2b are connected to a snow pressure pillow 1 and an isobaric transducer 6 is interposed between both pipings are a pressure sensor to send a difference pressure signal Srho to a control means 10. The upper limit value and a lower limit value of the measuring range of the sensor 6 are set to the microcomputer in the control means 10 and, when a measured value reaches the upper limit value to become a full scale, measurement is stopped and the difference pressure with the value at a measuring start time is stored. Next, the fluid pressure of the sensor is reset by a solenoid valve 5 and the transducer 6 to reopen measurement and a new measured value is added to the previous memory value. By repeating this operation, measurement can be easily performed over a wide range.
