PURPOSE:To prepare a fiber-reinforced plastic molded article with improved mold release characteristics, by incorporating a mixture of a specific metallic salt of an alkyl acid phosphate in a molding material containing a thermosetting resin and a fiber base material, and hardening and molding the resultant mixture in a mold. CONSTITUTION:A bivalent metallic salt of an alkyl acid phosphate, e.g. Zn salt, expressed by formulas I and II (R is 8-24C alkyl) as an internal mold release agent is incorporated in a thermosetting resin, e.g. an unsaturated polyester resin, containing a suitable hardening agent and a hardening accelerator and a fiber base material, e.g. a continuous filamentary group such as carbon fibers, at (1/4)-(3/1) ratio, and the resultant mixture is then hardened and molded in a mold to prepare the aimed fiber-reinforced plastic molded article. EFFECT:The molded article having effective mold release characteristics even in the continuous pultrusion molding, good appearance and improved strength characteristics is obtained.
