OPTICAL CHARACTER READER

PURPOSE:To obtain an image signal being free from a distortion by comparing the number of bits of read and write address pointers, which is outputted synchronously with the operations of the main scan and a subscan of a line sensor, and adjusting subscan speed. CONSTITUTION:The image signal of a line sensor 9 is brought to recognition processing by a character recognizing part 2 through a slip form image buffer memory 8. When this operation is being executed, a slip form mobile mechanisms driven by the signal of a control part 1 and a subscan control part 3, a subscan is executed and the next image signal is stored in the memory 8. The memory 8 constituted of a ring buffer memory reads and writes address pointers 4, 5, and outputs the number of dots synchronizing with the operation of the main scan and the subscan of the sensor 9. A comparator 7 detects the transition of the number of dots and adjusts subscan speed, so that a character recognition processing and the input of a slip form image can always be fetched in parallel with each other. In this way, the image signal being free from a distortion is obtained, and the reliability can be improved.
