SIDE TRIMMER

PURPOSE:To aim at the shortening of time for cutter changing work, by attaching a knife housing, where a vertical pair of cutter setting shafts and a cutter clearance adjuster are built in, to a frame, capable of attaching the housing, so as to make it extractable upward. CONSTITUTION:Shafts 3a and 3b of both upper and lower cutters 2a and 2b and a knife clearance adjuster 5 are all built in a knife housing 4, and also there is provided with a gripping device 6. A frame 7 attaching the knife housing 4 is tightly installed on a base via a clamp device, and the knife housing 4 is inserted from the upside along a vertical guide way of the frame and this housing 4 is clamped to the frame by the clamp device 9. In this connection, the frame 7 is set to a desired position of the base by a screw shaft 11 and a nut 12. At the time of cutter changing, the clamp device 9 is released and the gripping device 6 of the knife housing 4 is gripped by a lifting cylinder, making it go upward, and it is extracted from the frame 7. In succession, it is replaced with another knife housing 4 prepared for in advance whereby cutter changing work is performable in a short time.
