Zusammenfassung:	PURPOSE:To improve the starting performance of an engine by providing an actuator for incrementing the fuel at start independently from a boost compensator. CONSTITUTION:A boost compensator 1 for regulating the fullrack position of a control rack 12 in a fuel injection pump 10 is provided. A boost compensation start spring 7 made of shape-memory alloy is provided near the upper end of a boost compensation lever 4 of the boost compensator 1. When the engine temperature is lower than a predetermined level and a start switch 18 is turned on, a switch 15 is turned on to produce the heat so as to bring the temperature of the spring 7 to a level higher than the transformation point thus moving the spring in the fuel incremental direction. Consequently, the starting performance of an engine can be improved.
