Zusammenfassung:PURPOSE:To rationalize an operation and to reduce an equipping cost by charging a refractory made ball having intermediate density between molten steel and slag at the last stage of pouring at above a pouring hole in a tundish, to clog up the pouring hole naturally. CONSTITUTION:The refractory made ball for cut-off of the molten steel, adjusted to the intermediate density between the molten steel density and steel making slag density, is charged at the last stage of the pouring at above pouring hole in the tundish. The refractory ball floats up in the molten steel and clogs up the pouring hole in the tundish at the same time of the pouring finish. In this way, the casting operation is rationalized and also the equipping cost is reduced. Further, the yield and the quality are effectively improved.
