Zusammenfassung:PURPOSE:To enable highly accurate control by measuring the periods of pulse signals proportional to the rotation of the output shaft of transmission, then smoothing the periods while furthermore smoothing the reciprocal of said smoothed data or the rotation data and employing as a car speed data. CONSTITUTION:The ratio of the rotation between the input and output shafts of a transmission 2 is determined by a gear ratio which is modified during speed change by driving a select actuator 4 and a shift actuator 5 through a control circuit 8. Here, the periods of the pulse signals proportional to a rotation signal 16a detected through an electromagnetic pickup 16 are measured and temporarily smoothed. The reciprocals of said smoothed data is employed as a rotation data which is stored with relatively long period then further smoothed and employed as a car speed data. Said car speed data is used for the travel control including the speed change.
