PURPOSE:To enable a sheet to be automatically set to a desired printing-starting line position without need for manual correction each time of setting the sheet, by providing an adjusting quantity setting means and adjusting a feed quantity from a predetermined position to the printing-starting line position. CONSTITUTION:A printer has the function of correcting a positional error in loading one of sheets 10 set in a hopper 15. In the printer, a sheet-feeding part 110 feeds the sheet by a fixed amount (b) from the position at which the sheet is detected by a sensor 62a, whereby the sheet is positioned to a printing-starting position of a printing part. A setting means 120 sets an arbitrary feed quantity. A holding means 130 holds the adjusting quantity set by the setting means 120 in a RAM or the like. A determining means 140 determines by calculation a feed quantity from the sheet detection position to the printing-starting position, based on the fixed feed quantity (b) and the adjusting quantity held in the holding means 1.
