OPTICAL INFORMATION RECORDING MEDIUM

PURPOSE:To enhance reflectivity or recording sensitivity and to stabilize the writing or reproduction of an optical signal, by forming an optical information recording medium by laminating a recording layer containing an org. dye represented by a specific general formula to a substrate. CONSTITUTION:An org. dye represented by formula I [wherein R1 is a 1-6C alkyl group, an aralkyl group or a phenyl group, R2 is H or a halogen atom, X is an anion such as perchlorate or fluoroborate, Y is a 1-18C alkyl group or a group represented by formula II (wherein R4 is a 1-20C alkyl group), m is an integer of 1 or 2 and Z is a phenyl group] is dissolved in a solvent to prepare a coating solution which is, in turn, applied to a substrate to form an optical information recording medium having a recording layer 2 provided thereto. Recording and reproduction are performed by condensing laser beam 3 to the recording layer 2 by a condensing lens in a spot form having a size of 0.8-1.5mum.
