Zusammenfassung:PURPOSE:To execute the high frequency and the high recording density accompanied by the improvement of an S/N by providing a magnetic film to generate a Faraday effect in a magnetic path of a head chip member. CONSTITUTION:A magnetic flux by the magnetization of a magnetic tape 15 flows through a lower part magnetic core 1, a magnetic film 3 and an upper part magnetic core 6 and the magnetic film 3 is magnetized in the thickness direction. On the other hand, a laser beam 9 polarized from a laser source 10 is reflected by an optical reflecting film 2, passes through the magnetic film 3 again, and then, the polarizing surface of the polarized laser beam 9 is rotated mutually in the opposite direction in accordance with the direction of the magnetization of the magnetic film 3 by the Faraday effect. Thus, the photodetecting quantity by a photodetecting element 11 is different according to the direction of the magnetization of the magnetic film 3 and the signal recorded at the magnetic tape 15 can be obtained from the photodetecting element 11.
