MOLTEN METAL SUPPLYING EQUIPMENT FOR CATERPILLAR TYPE CONTINUOUS CASTING MACHINE

PURPOSE:To prevent development of wrinkling and double skin on a surface of casting sheet by inserting a molten metal supplying nozzle into a mold direct ly and making adjustable a gap between the nozzle and an inner face of the mold at producing the casting sheet from the molten metal by a caterpillar type continuous casting machine. CONSTITUTION:At producing the continuous casting sheet by pouring the molten metal between the caterpillar type lower belt 1 and upper belt 3, which circulate endlessly by belt-pulleys 2, 4, the molten metal supplying nozzle 13 having almost the same shape for its end part as inner section of the mold, is provided at inlet side of the mold formed by both belts 1, 3 and dam-blocks, and a reserver 10 positioned by an upper supporting roll 18 and a gap adjusting roll 19 to the both belts, is arranged. The molten metal in a tundish 7 is poured through a molten metal supply controlling nozzle 8 and a submerged nozzle 9, to pour into the mold through the molten metal supplying nozzle 13. In the process of solidifying for the molten metal in the mold, after the molten metal is once solidified, it is remelted and further solidified once more, and so development of wrinkling and double skin on the surface of castng sheet is prevented.
