Device for adjusting the stiffness of a magnetic spring by altering the magnetic resistance of the magnetic path of the magnetic spring, which has a first, preferably inner, and a second, preferably outer sub-assembly, of which one is connected to the sprung part and the other to the unsprung part of a system to be cushioned, and the two sub-assemblies have permanent magnets between which soft iron separators are arranged, characterized in that the magnetic resistance of the magnetic path (15, 15') can be altered by at least one displaceable or rotatable magnetizable body (60) so as to reduce or increase the magnetic flux in the region of an air gap (16) between the first (10) and the second (12) sub-assembly.
