Zusammenfassung:	PURPOSE:To improve the sliding resistance characteristic of a magnetic recording medium by incorporating a specific ratio of silicon nitride powder into a magnetic coated film. CONSTITUTION:The silicon nitride powder is incorporated into the magnetic coated film consisting of magnetic powder (e.g.: gamma-Fe2O3 powder) and thermosetting resin (e.g.; phenolic resin) at 3-20pts.wt. per 100pts.wt. magnetic coated film components. The practicable sliding resistance characteristic is exhibited if the content is >=3pts.wt. and the electromagnetic characteristics are not satisfied when the content exceed 20pts.wt. The recording medium having the sliding resistance characteristic is obtd. according to the above-mentioned constitution and therefore, the reliability thereof is improved.
