Zusammenfassung:PURPOSE:To obtain a picture signal of high picture element density corresponding to a desired picture element density conversion rule by inputting a scanning line start signal, a transfer clock pulse of every picture element, and a picture signal of two scanning line portions, and generating an output picture signal which has been determined in advance. CONSTITUTION:A line counter 12 counts a scanning line start signal (b), and applies it as an encoding start signal (i) to an encoding part 1. Also, a picture element counter 11 is cleared by the scanning line start signal (b), and counts a picture signal transfer clock (a). A picture signal (c) which has been encoded by the encoding part 1 is sent out in a ratio of one picture element per to pulses of the picture signal transfer clock (a), and written on picture signal memories 2, 3. Picture signal registers 5-7, 8-10 shift successively outputs (d), (e) of the picture signal memories 2, 3, respectively, at every one pulse of a picture element counter (f), and they are inputted to a ROM 19, respective ly. In accordance with these inputs, an output picture signal conforming to a conversion which has been determined in advance is obtained from the ROM 19.
