Zusammenfassung:PURPOSE:To suppress a blooming due to an excessive light and to improve the performance of the device by correcting an offset and the sensitivity of an image pickup signal from an image pickup element and multiplying by an inverse number of a storage time by a bit shifter to change over the storage time and return to the value before the change over. CONSTITUTION:An incident light is photoelectrically converted by a solid-state image pickup element 1, amplified 2, A/D converted 3 and added to an adder 4. The respective corrected values of different storage times are read from offset correction value memories 6, 7 and sensitivity correction value memories 8, 9 by multiplexers 10, 11, applied to the adder 4 and a multiplier 5 to carry out the correction of the offset and the sensitivity. This offset and sensitivity corrected video signal is applied to a circuit consisting of the bit shifter 14, a multiplexer, a digital comparator 16 and a maximum value setting SW. The video signal is multiplied by the inverse number of the storage time by the shifter 14 and it is returned to the previous vale by changing over the storage time to suppress the blooming due to the excessive light.
