WATER-SOLUBLE ACRYLIC SELF-ADHESIVE

PURPOSE:To have a self-adhesive provided with the tendency of losing adhesive power in water or the resolubility together with adhesive power under shear, cohesive power, etc., at high temperatures, by incorporating a silica powder in a specified weight ratio into a water-soluble acrylic self-adhesive used in, e.g., the field of paper making. CONSTITUTION:A water-soluble cyclic self-adhesive is prepared by adding a softening agent (e.g., polypropylene glycol), a crosslinking agent, etc. to a base polymer comprising a water-soluble acrylic polymer such as a 2-hydroxyacrylate/ acrylic acid copolymer or a partial sodium salt of polyacrylic acid. A silica powder is added to this self-adhesive in an amount of 1-100pts.wt. based on 100pts.wt. base polymer of the self-adhesive. Preferably the silica powder has a particle diameter of 100nm or less and is added as a colloidal aqueous dispersion.
