CASTING SLAB GUIDE APPARATUS

PURPOSE:To guide a casting slab without pressing bulging part of the slab by pressing only at right angle direction to the slab surface by rolls having shape or construction, which is brought into contact with corner parts of upper surface and lower surface of the slab but is not brought into contact with the bulging part in central part of the slab surface. CONSTITUTION:The slab 2, which is guided or reformed by upper and lower guide rolls 11, 12, has W of width and (t) of thickness and the central part of the upper and lower parts thereof is bulged by (t1) of some bulging size by static pressure of non-solidified part 9 in the shell 10. This slab 2 is brought into contact and pressed with the guide rolls 11, 12, which are formed as saddle- backed rolls, such as becoming smaller diameter as nearer center line of the roll, not to be brought into contact with the bulging part but brought into contact with non-bulging part, that is, only near the corner parts (length W2). In this way, the casting slab is supported without pressing the bulging part thereof and prevented from internal cracking thereof.
