SEPARATE PAINTING METHOD

PURPOSE:To dispense with a second color top coat painting process and to converse paint, by applying colored clear paint as a second color in color separate painting. CONSTITUTION:After pretreatment, a bottom coat film 3 and an intermediate coat film 4 are applied to a steel plate and baked and cured to prepare a test piece 1 and top coat having metal pieces 5a mixed therein is applied to the whole of the test piece 1 by air atomizing electrostatic painting to form a first color top coat film 5. A clear paint film 6 is formed to the paint film 5 without baking and curing said film 5 and both films are simultaneously baked and cured. Next, a parting tape 8 is adhered to the separate painting/ parting part of the clear paint film 6 while the clear paint film 6 is masked by paper 9. In this state, clear paint containing 0.1-2wt% of color pigment 10a is applied to the area other than the masking area by air atomizing electrostatic painting to form a clear paint film 10 which is, in turn, baked and cured and the paper 9 and the tape 8 are subsequently removed.
