PERMEABLE BREAKWATER

PURPOSE:To permit excellent wave-breaking function to be exhibited against wide ranges of periodic waves by a method in which the upper part of a dam- like structure is exposed to the surface of water, an opened hollow bottom is provided for the structure, and air is enclosed in the inside of the structure. CONSTITUTION:Piles 1 are driven at intervals into deeply the bottom ground G under water, and a dam-like concrete structure 2 is integrally supported on the piles 1. The lower part of the structure 2 consisting of two walls 3, a side wall 4, and a top plate 5 is settled below the water surface S, and the upper part is exposed from the water surface. When waves come from front side, the energy of the waves is attenuated in the structure 2 because air A inclosed works as a damper to suppress the change of the internal water surface S. The breakwater can thus counteract against wide ranges of periodic waves to keep the inside of harbor in stabilized quiet state.
