Zusammenfassung:	PURPOSE:To attain a quantitative measurement and to facilitate automation by detecting a defect in a wheel rim by using an ultrasonic wave. CONSTITUTION:The wheel rim 1 for the automobile is mounted on two rollers 9 in a tank 8 filled with liquid 7 and the rollers 9 are rotated manually. Ultrasonic probes 10 are arranged with equal intervals to the positions corresponding to the flange part 1a, based seat part 1b, and dro part 1c of the wheel rim 1 respectively. Then, an ultrasonic wave is emitted by the ultrasonic probes 10 to the wheel rim 1 in rotation and ultrasonic echoes from the wheel rim 1 are detected and displayed on a cathode-ray tube.
