Zusammenfassung:PURPOSE:To improve the recording efficiency and the reproducing efficiency by forming a front magnetic pole piece and a back magnetic pole piece whose surface is flat and forming an upper magnetic layer extended to the head tip at the upper part so as to eliminate the step of the magnetic film. CONSTITUTION:The 1st insulation layer 41 is formed on a ferromagnetic base 40. The 1st thin film coil 43 is formed on the layer 41 and the 2nd insulation layer 44 is provided on the coil 43. Then the layer 44 is made flat to form the 2nd thin film coil 45 on the layer 44 and the 3rd insulation layer 46 is formed on the coil 45. Then the layers 44, 46 are etched altogether to form throughholes, the front magnetic pole piece 48 and the back magnetic pole piece 49 are formed in the throughholes to make the same plane as the upper face of the layer 46. Then an upper magnetic layer 50 having a high permeability is formed on the pole pieces 48, 49 and the layer 46 up to the head tip. Thus, the step of the magnetic film is eliminated on the magnetic flux transmission path and high magnetic flux transmission efficiency is obtained without deteriorating the permeability of the magnetic film.
