Zusammenfassung:	PURPOSE:To simply obtain a large amount of tannin, by extracting a tannin- containing plant with a solvent and passing successively the extracted solution through a column chromatography using polystyrene gel and a column chromatography using polyvinyl gel. CONSTITUTION:A tannin-containing substance e.g., [Agarimonia pilosa Ledeb(Rossaseae)], etc., is extracted with a solvent (preferably water-acetone mixed solvent) and the extracted solution is subjected to column chromatography using polystyrene porous polymer gel to give a tannin-containing crude fraction. Further the crude fraction is subjected to column chromatography using polyvinyl porous polymer gel to give the aimed purified tannin. A mixed solvent of water and methanol, water and acetone or water, acetone and methanol is preferable as the eluting solvent.
