REPRODUCING DEVICE OF DISC-SHAPED RECORDING MEDIUM

PURPOSE:To detect an index signal more accurately by opening a gate circuit to stop the supply of the output of a reproduced index signal detector to an index signal self-oscillating circuit in case of tracking muting or drop-out. CONSTITUTION:An index signal self-oscillating circuit 14 is synchronized with the reproduced index signal outputted fron a repeoduced index signal detecting circuit 3 of the peaking system, and switching between the first and the second tracking signals is controlled throgh a switching circuit 8 in accordance with the output of the index signal self-oscillating circuit 14. A gate circuit 16 is opened by a tracking mute control signal delayed by a delay circuit 17 to inhibit the control of the index signal self-oscillating circuit 14 due to the reproduced index signal when tracking is turned off. The delay circuit 17 delays the signal by a time corresponding to the leading-in time of a tracking control circuit to continue the inhibition in the switching time from tracking turn-off to turn-on also.
