Zusammenfassung:PURPOSE:To detect the coordinate position with no time division processing by arraying a large number of the 1st and 2nd line patterns having specified polarizing directions in a crossing form, and counting only the reflected beams that passed through a polarizing plate by a photodetecting element. CONSTITUTION:Thin lines 9 and 10 consisting of polarizing plates are set on a pad substrate 17 orthogonally to each other and every prescribed space. The natural light radiated from a light emitting source 8y is polarized toward an axis X when it passes through the line 9 having the polarization toward the axis X. This polarized light is reflected by a lower aluminum plate 11 and made incident on a detector 14y via a polarizing plate 13y having the same polarizing property as the line 9. While the light made incident on the line 10 is not detected by the detector 14y since the polarizing property of the plate 10 is different from that of the plate 13y. On the contrary a detector 14x detects only the line 10. Then the input of the coordinate position is possible by counting the reflected beams by a counter.
