Zusammenfassung:	PURPOSE:To prevent the deterioration in the quality of a billet without overcooling the billet by controlling the opening and closing of shut-off valves which supply cooling water in accordance with the relation between a reference casting speed and casting speed. CONSTITUTION:The secondary cooling zone in a continuous casting installation is divided to plural cooling zones and the cooling water flow rate is controlled for every cooling zone. The reference casting speed based on the opening and closing of the shut-off valves which control the on and off of the cooling water to the respective cooling zones is set in this stage. The actually measured casting speed and the reference casting speed are compared. The shut-off valves are opened when the actually measured casting speed is larger than the reference casting speed and the shut-off valves are closed when the actually measured casting speed is smaller than the reference casting speed.
