DATA PROCESSOR

PURPOSE:To speed up an editing process by performing the decoding of a mask and the non-zero detection of a source as to plural digits of plural byte sources of the mask in parallel at a time, switching the maskposition according to the result, and controlling conversion to a character form. CONSTITUTION:When pack format data is converted into zone format data and processed, the pack format data set in a source register 8 is detected by a non-zero detecting circuit 9 and stored in an FF10 for storage and a mask set in a register 12 is detected by a decoder 13 and stored in four kinds of mask identifying registers 14 corresponding to the respective bytes of the mask. Then, significance states of the respective digits of the source are identified by a logical circuit 15 from the decoding result of the mask and the non-zero detection result of the FF10 and the significance state of the digit at the right end of the source which is processed in parallel is held by an FF16 up to a next cycle; and outputs of the circuit 15 and register 14 are used to select an editing format of the source by a selector 17.
