PURPOSE:To secure the correct correction for the skew for the optical character reader usinf a long line sensor to use the contents of the horizontal and vertical address counters for the reading memory addresses when the video signals are read out. CONSTITUTION:The video signals sent from each element of long line sensor 1 are stored in the memory places decided by the vertical and horizontal addresses. Horizontal address counter 5, memory table 7 and vertical address counter 8 are actuated when the signals are read out through video memory 3. Skew amount detection circuit 6 detects the skew amount between sensor 1 and the paper and holds a counter inside. Table 7 obtains the vertical start address via circuit 6 plus the horizontal address and holds the regions allotted to each of several types of skew amount. Then the horizontal address plus the vertical start address pairs corresponding to the horizontal addresses are written into these regions.
