SHEET FEEDER

PURPOSE:To prevent slant feed of sheets surely by allowing a pressure contact lever mechanism to balance the contact forces transmitted to feed rollers on both sides. CONSTITUTION:When stacked copying sheets 12 of comparatively great size are accommodated in a copying sheet cassette 2 and separable loading on the cassette part is made in an intended manner, a pressure contact lever 18 of a pressure contact lever mechanism 14 is deviated resiliently toward a placing plate 10 through the action of a spring, and then rollers 28a, 28b fitted at the tip of said pressure contact lever 18 will act on the undersurface of the tip of said placing plate 10 through an opening 8 formed in the bottom wall 6 of the cassette body 4. Here a shafting member 26 is capable of swinging oscillatively with a boss 36 as its fulcrum, so that the contact force applied to the placing plate 10 through the riller 28a is balanced to or substantially equal to the contact force applied to the same plate through the other roller 28b. Accordingly the pressures to the uppermost copying sheet given by feed rollers 40a, 40b on both sides are made equal substantially to contribute to sure prevention of slant feed of sheets.
