Zusammenfassung:PURPOSE:To obtain a Zr plate having superior bendability when a Zr slab is hot rolled and cold rolled to manufacture a Zr plate, by specifying the hot rolling temp. and the cold rolling direction. CONSTITUTION:A Zr slab is heated at >=810 deg.C or subjected to beta-soln. heat treatment and heated to >=810 deg.C, and it is hot rolled at 810 deg.C- a temp. below the beta- transformation point. The hot rolled plate is quenched, annealed, descaled as required, (straight) cold rolled in the hot rolling direction, and annealed to obtain a Zr plate. Since cross cold rolling is not carried out in the cold rolling stage, the C axes of hexagonal Zr crystals in the aggregated Zr crystal structure of the Zr plate are arranged in a direction parallel to the surface of the plate to provide superior bendability to the plate. The formation of a stringy body can be inhibited by carrying out said beta-soln. heat treatment, so the Zr plate having well satisfactory bendability is obtd. at all times.
